Christmas is always more fun with a baby in the house, especially their first Christmas. L was lots of help when it came to decorating the tree. He wanted it to be just right, so he helped me by removing ornaments every day, so that I could put them back on in a more appropriate location. Silly me, because I had thought that they looked pretty good the first time. He also felt that the branches looked a little flimsy, so he made sure to test them for me every day as well. I don't know how we ever had a Christmas without L.
A few weeks went by, and L didn't seem to be his cheerful self. He wasn't as interested in playing with his toys, and his naps got longer and longer. (I didn't mention this to him, but he started putting on some extra weight, too.) Poor L. The problem with living in a house full of adults and teenagers, is that no one knows how to really have fun. Several people mentioned that he might like the company of another youngster in the house. We mulled it over for a little bit, and decided to adopt another baby.
After visiting several agencies and meeting quite a few young ladies and gentlemen, we found B. Full of curiosity and confidence, she seemed like the perfect addition to our household. L was a little cautious at their first meeting, but quickly accepted his new sister with open arms. Young L was alone no more. He now had a partner in crime, and both would soon have us second guessing the choice of adding two toddlers to our once serene and organized home.
